This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use our web sites or contact us by telephone, post or email.
In this privacy policy “Aldergate”, “our” and “we” includes Aldergate Properties Limited, associated businesses and the Directors of those companies as shown below.

Aldergate is a land and property developer and property owner. We are both a controller and processor of “personal information”. Personal information is any information that tells us something about you. This could include information such as name, contact details, date of birth, bank account details or any information about your needs or circumstances which would allow us to identify you.

This may be collected as part of our business activities (the buying/letting and selling/letting of land and buildings, planning/planning promotion, construction/ development and maintenance and repair of our property).

We will collect and process personal information in accordance with data protection law. Some personal information is classified as "special" data under data protection legislation. This includes information relating to health, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs or political opinions and sexual orientation. This information is more sensitive and we need to have further justifications for collecting, storing and using this type of personal information. There are also additional restrictions on the circumstances in which we are permitted to collect and use criminal conviction data.

We may collect and process personal information; with your consent; where necessary to perform or prepare to enter into a contract with you; where we or you are under a legal obligation; where necessary for our legitimate interests.

What information do we collect?

  • We collect information about you when you enquire of us directly or indirectly through other people about our properties or businesses by phone, email, post or by completing forms on our web sites.
  • Typically we may collect and record your name, contact telephone number(s), home and/or business and email addresses.
  • Similar information may also be collected from staff, from people applying to work for us or who may be offering us goods, services or property.
  • Data may be collected from public sources in connection with our business operations, for example from property ownership registers.
  • Some of our properties have CCTV cameras and image recording for the purposes of safety and the prevention/detection of crime. Your image may be recorded if you visit those properties where you see a CCTV Notice displayed.
  • Normally only where we are required to do so by law or regulation, we will collect information relating to your identity, for example, we may need identity documents from you to meet our obligations to prevent fraud and money laundering and in connection with Right to Rent. If you do not provide the information required for these purposes, we will not be able to perform a contract with you. We will explain when this is the case at the point where we collect information from you.
  • We may need to collect details of your financial details, credit history and bank details where, for example you are renting or buying a property from us or where we will be making payments to you for goods, services or land & property.
  • We may need to collect personal information from you of your family members or professional advisers.

Using the information we gather

We gather information for the following purposes;

  • For the conduct of our business.
  • Internal record keeping, financial management and accounting.

How long do we keep your personal information?

The period for which we will keep your personal information will depend on the type of relationship we have with you. The retention period may be longer than the period for which we are providing services to you where we have statutory or regulatory obligations to retain personal information for a longer period, or where we may need to retain the information in case of a legal claim.

Security

Although we do our best to protect and restrict access to your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our web site or to us by email because information sent by the internet or email cannot be regarded as completely secure. Information you send in that way is sent at your risk.
